The shameful abduction, rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua has sparked off a torrent of anger and disillusionment. After grisly details of the case emerged from the charge sheet filed earlier this week, film stars like Sonam Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Simi Garewal have also been tweeting their outrage. B-town’s celebrities are not just speaking up, but also encouraging their fans and followers to demand justice for the minor in the shameful incident.

While Sonam Kapoor wrote, “Ashamed appalled and disgusted by fake nationals and fake Hindus. I cannot believe this is happening in my country,” Javed Akhtar exhorted, “All those who wish justice for women should stand up and raise their voices against the rapists and their protectors in Unnao (UP) and Kathua.”

Farhan Akhtar was clearly shaken as he commented, “Imagine what goes through the mind of an 8 yr old as she is drugged, held captive, gang-raped over days and then murdered. If you don’t feel her terror, you are not human. If you don’t demand Asifa get justice, you belong to nothing.”

Comedian and actor, Vir Das showed his shock as he wrote, “I can't breathe after reading this. I need to share it. And so do you. Please do. #JusticeforAsifa”
Simi Garewal declared, “There is no species ever created on this planet that is as cruel, as monstrous and as evil as the rapists of #Asifa. And there is no punishment commensurate to their crime. An innocent 8-year-old girl? I can only ask 'Where is God?’”

Eight-year-old Asifa had been allegedly held captive inside a 'Devisthan' or a temple, gang-raped by six men, kept without food and administered sedatives. In fact, she was gang-raped ‘one last time’ before she was hit with a stone twice on her head to ensure she was dead.
