How time can change things… Last year, when asked about his equation with his half-sisters, Janhvi and Khushi, Arjun Kapoor had candidly admitted, “We don’t really meet and spend time together so it doesn’t really exist.” That situation underwent a sea-change this year, after the sudden demise of Sridevi, his father’s second wife, in Dubai. Arjun, along with his sister Anshula, had risen to the occasion with grace. Not only did he rush to be by his father Boney’s side in Dubai to help bring Sri home, Arjun was also the rock that the family – including his half-sisters - needed in the difficult days that followed.

Now Arjun comes out again, no less than a furious lion, to call out a website that discussed his half-sister Janhvi in disgusting terms.

Apparently, Boney along with Janhvi and Khushi had arrived for dinner at Arjun’s apartment. The family often bonds together over meals; something that never occurred in the old days. They have all grown immensely closer as a unit. Several websites carried images of Boney and his daughters outside Arjun’s apartment building. However, one particular website went many degrees further and made a shockingly insensitive comment about Janhvi’s dressing.

This clearly enraged the normally cool-headed Arjun, who blasted the concerned website on Twitter. He wrote, “U know what Fuck u man fuck u as a website for highlighting or bringing it to anyone s attention...and it’s shameful that ur eye would go searching for something like this shame on u...this is how our country looks at young women yet another shining example...ashamed by this.”

Clearly, this Kapoor feels very strongly about women’s issues. Earlier he had tweeted about the Kathua rape case, expressing concern over how our government and leaders have failed to respect women or lives. “A life is lost a childhood taken & yet everything is politically connected leading to a so called secular country getting divided on caste & religion because that digresses from the reality that our country, the silent government & its leaders still don’t respect woman or lives,” he wrote, after the details of the minor’s rape and murder emerged through the chargesheet.

We need more men like Arjun Kapoor.
