Sushant-Kriti edge past Tiger-Disha for starring in Indian version of Dirty Dancing?

Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon have some very interesting Bollywood films in their kitty. The latest movie that these two actors might sign is the Indian version of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey’s cult Hollywood dance film Dirty Dancing. The movie will be a remake of the 1987 dance movie. Lionsgate Television had produced a television series in 2017 are keen to make an Indian version of it with the same storyline. The duo has been offered the film after Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani turned it down due to work commitments.

A source in the know said, “The script is currently being reworked to suit Bollywood audiences. The premise of how a girl develops a crush on her father’s resort dance instructor will remain the same. Considering Sushant and Kriti are skilled dancers, they are currently the top contenders for the lead roles.” A leading daily had earlier reported that Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani were the first ones to have been offered the project. However, owing to their busy schedules they could not take it up. Now, Sushant and Kriti are the leading contenders for the coveted role.

Sushant and Kriti’s last outing together Raabta tanked at the box office but their chemistry made a lot of people sit up and take notice of the duo. If the actors green light the project than they will have to start training in different dance forms. The project is supposed to start rolling early next year and the production house is gearing up to collaborate with an Indian production team on the movie. Also, since the movie is based on dancing, the production house is keen on taking on a choreographer as its director. A reputed choreographer is in talks with the production house as he is keen on making his directorial debut.

Kriti is riding high on her Excellence Award for Bareilly Ki Barfi while Sushant’s Kedarnath opposite Sara Ali Khan is back on floors after Ronnie Screwvala stepped in as producer. If the two comes onboard the film then it will definitely be a plus for the producers as Sushant is an electrifying dancer and Kriti has great chemistry with him.
