After the success of his majestic role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor wasted no time in basking in the glory but instead plunged head on into his next project. He will be seen next in Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu opposite Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam. Recently, the actor was spotted at the office of filmmaker Neeraj Pandey with none other than T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar and if the grapevine is true then he might be playing the role of a boxer in his next movie.
Aiyaary director Neeraj Pandey, along with T-series head Bhushan Kumar wants to make a film where the hero will be a boxer and for this they have Shahid in their minds. However, Shahid is in dilemma as he is still figuring out whether to green light the project or not. Now that Bollywood has found a hit formula of sports-based films like Aamir Khan’s Dangal, Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De India, Salman Khan’s Sultan and others, Shahid’s movie will have to live up to a lot of expectations. Even biopics like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Mary Kom are stellar projects that have created a benchmark which any other sports movie will have to compete with.

If Shahid takes on this film it will be interesting to see his transformation and the hard work that he might have to put in to portray the role of a boxer. Neeraj Pandey is well known for capturing and making films which have a tight script and stellar direction. After all, whenever we think of a boxer film we ultimately think of the Rocky movies of Sylvester Stallone and it will be really interesting to see how Pandey helms the project. It all depends on Shahid now and we hope that he does take on the film. Watch this space for more updates.
