6 Reasons why we are keen to watch Sonam-Kareena-Swara-Shikha's Veere Di Wedding

The trailer for Veere Di Wedding starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania has been released and we must say after Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara we were yearning for a film based on female bonds.
VDW is all that and much more. Here are some key takeaways from the trailer which will surely make you watch the movie.

The four 'Veeres'

If you thought that either Sonam or Kareena are called Veera in the movie then you can’t be more wrong because the four girls call each other Veeres (Veera actually means brave) in the movie, probably a play on the fact that many men call their friends ‘bro’.

Kareena: Not Ready to be 'Mrs Malhotra'

Kareena plays the role of Kalindi Puri, a young woman who is engaged but is not ready to get married yet. She has trouble coming to terms with the big fat Indian wedding that comes in tow whenever an Indian couple decides to get married. Kalindi aka Bebo is being weighed down by all the relations and the expectations and the rituals and amidst all this, it is her love for her man (Sumeet Vyas) that is probably taking a backseat.

IRONY, Sonam on VERGE OF A breakup!

Sonam is shown being in a relationship which is not going anywhere and is stagnant. Her love interest is supposedly a mama’s boy and hence the two have a mountain of differences to smooth over. What more, she is that friend who despite the problems her 'veeres' are going through, isn't ready to hear a word against her friends.

Swara: The Divorcee

Swara Bhasker is going through a bitter divorce and she is shown abusing her husband when he asks her to get a job. The devil-may-care attitude hides the vulnerability and mixed bag of emotions she is going through.

Shikha: One with The existential crisis

Shikha Talsania is certainly the surprise package. The one who got married after eloping and has a kid, she is facing an existential crisis, parental problems, no sex life post having the kid, and what not! Be it spelling what an orgasm is called in Hindi at the end of the trailer or loduly announcing "Aaj ham kutton ki tarah piyenge" at Kalindi (Kareena) cocktail party, this girl is definitely on fiyaah.

Not a chick flick

The trailer definitely does not look like a chick flick as there is umpteen number of swear words and sex talks (at one point even tries to educate the audience with the Hindi word for orgasm.) The girls look like they are out to have fun and paint the town red and in-between if they get the time they will solve their issues. Thankfully, the trailer does not look dreary or sorrowful but is humorous with the right amount of seriousness thrown into it.

Neena Gupta: the mother who knows best

&

SUMEET VYAS: THE SURPISE ELEMENT

The first surprise element here is Neena Gupta who plays Sonam Kapoor’s mother in the movie. In the last frame of the trailer, she aptly sums up the things that are going wrong in all the four friends’ life.

As Rishabh Malhotra and Kareen's fiance, Sumeet manages to hold the fort, not-to-miss those bewildered expressions. Let's get ready for an added dose of straight-faced humour.

Overall, the focus would be the 'veeres' tide over their obstacles and create a new and happier life for themselves with courage, integrity, acceptance, love and friendship.
