It’s the same old trolling story. Virat Kohli’s team fails to perform and Anushka Sharma gets pinned with the blame. This season, it has not exactly been smooth sailing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. The team has only two wins to their tally so far. The Kohli-led RCB faced another loss on Sunday, against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Thankfully Virat put on a good show and scored an unbeaten 68. However, his heroics could not save the game and it was yet another defeat for RCB. Ever quick to lay blame, the trolls latched onto their fave scapegoat, Anushka Sharma. The star was present for the match to cheer on her husband and had to pay the price for it in the world of social media.

A number of memes did the rounds, among which one used a promo image from the Anushka-Varun Dhawan film Sui Dhaaga. A grim pic of Virat replaced Varun’s as he pedalled a cycle rickshaw, with Anushka sitting behind.

If this was a tad funny, another showed an aged pic of Anushka with the suggestion that she will have to wait for another season.

Yet another displayed a morphed sad face of Anushka in the stands, with the advice that she not attend a few matches.

Of course, the rudest had to be the one that urged users to re-tweet if they felt Virat should divorce Anushka.

From the time the couple started dating, Anushka has been mercilessly trolled every time Virat fails to perform on field. In an interview, Virat had sent out a strong message to those who troll his wife, criticising the negativity on social media and calling out the nasty comments. He maintained that he and Anushka never paid attention to the trolls and their comments. He added that it was alarming how people were getting nasty towards each other and actually enjoying the negativity online.

Hopefully, the newlyweds are able to ignore this fresh bout of negativity as well.
