Till yesterday it appeared that Boney Kapoor was supporting a documentary that had been planned on Sridevi, his late wife, while she was still alive to mark her golden jubilee in films. In mid-February this year, while Sridevi was still very much alive and well, news had emerged of a Sridevi Bangalore fan club that was creating a special documentary to mark the 53-year-old actress’s 50 years in films. The five-part docu-drama series was pegged to feature her life and achievements in films.
However, now comes news that the filmmaker is planning to depict his legendary actress wife’s journey on film himself. He has already registered three titles of the upcoming film with the Title Registration Committee of the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA).

Although he will not confirm them, the registered titles are said to be Sri, Sridevi and Sri Ma’am. “I have registered three titles, but I cannot categorically reveal what they are. It's too premature to talk about it,” said Boney. He does however confirm that there are plans to make a film on his late wife. “There are plans to make a film, but I can't tell you whether it will be a biopic or documentary. I don't see the need to rush into anything. Whenever there is any further development, everyone will come to know about it,” he shared.
Interest is definitely high in a film on the legendary Sri, whose glorious career saw many highs. A life cut prematurely short, she nevertheless had achieved great highs over the course of 300 films and many noteworthy awards.
Buzz has it that work on the script is already progressing well, with Boney working with a famous writer on the project. The film is touted to focus on the actress’s personal life as well, including her marriage, her children and her comeback to films. In fact the film could roll by next year itself.
