It's official! Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja to tie the knot on May 8

After much wait, the families of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja finally break mum over the wedding of the year. In an official statement released by the family, the Kapoors and the Ahujas shared the good news and the dates of the wedding and it's all happening on May 8 as PeepingMoon.com exclusively reported.

The family in an official statement said:

"The Kapoor & Ahuja families, take great joy and pride, in announcing the marriage of Sonam & Anand. The wedding will take place on the 8th of May in Mumbai. Since it is an intimate affair, we request you to respect the family's need for privacy. Thank you for all your blessings and love, as we celebrate this special moment in our lives."

Albeit a filmy affair, it's no brainer that the affair would be anything but private. Bound to be one of the biggest weddings of the year (unless Deepika and Ranveer decide to elope), the celebrations will take place at three different venues. The Sangeet will be held at The Leela while the Mehendi is going to be held at Sonam’s 35-crore luxurious duplex apartment in Sunteck Signature Island building at Bandra Kurla Complex. The apartment is spread over 7,000 square feet and while it is is spacious enough for the Mehendi, the ceremony will be conducted in a Ballroom-like banquet area of the building.

As for the D-Day, it will be conducted at the heritage mansion of Sonam’s aunt Kavita Singh (mother Sunita’s sister) at Bandra Bandstand near Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat. The property is reportedly 55,000 square feet and is said to be not just one of Mumbai’s, but one of the world’s most beautiful homes with a spectacular pooja room that has Ganesha statues and jharokas from the South.
