Day 5 Sanju Poster: Ranbir Kapoor relives the Munnabhai bit of Sanjay Dutt’s life. ‘Jaadu ki Jhappi,’ anyone?

Ranbir Kapoor shares a striking resemblance to Sanjay Dutt, and we would have never seen him as an uncanny lookalike (nearly) of the 58-year-old superstar, if not for Rajkumar Hirani. When Hirani first went public with the news of Ranbir in and as Sanju, the piece of information only piqued excitement amongst fans, for the actor’s acting chops come handy when portraying gritty characters. Speaking of intense, Sanjay is one such celebrity whose life palette has seen splashes of colours from the rainbow and shades of grey alike. Benefitting from this tale worth telling and a muse like Ranbir Kapoor on board, Hirani went on to make a biopic on the life of Sanjay Dutt.

So far, Hirani has treated us with looks of Ranbir representing Sanjay from the 90s and Khalnayak phase, and a mind-blowing teaser. On Friday, Hirani shared a bit from Dutt’s Munnabhai phase. A clean-shaven Ranbir is seen wearing the signature shirt sported by Dutt in his iconic film, the smile on his face only makes his want for a ‘Jaadu ki Jhappi.’

Notably, Munnabhai M.B.B.S marked the directorial debut of Hirani, who is also at the helm of Sanju. The biopic boasts of an ensemble cast including stars Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Karishma Tanna. The film is scheduled to release on June 29, 2018.
