Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer Raazi is nearing its release date and everybody is excited to watch their favourite Alia in the role of a spy. The film which is based on Harinder Singh Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat sees Alia playing the titular role in the Meghna Gulzar directed film. However, what is also very exciting about the film is the fact that Alia will be seen sharing screen space with her mother Soni Razdan. According to the young actress she was nervous while shooting with her mother because she was scared that her mother will forget the dialogues.
Razdan is essaying the role of a Kashmiri mother whose daughter gets married to a Pakistani Army officer in order to provide the Indian intelligence with invaluable information during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. In a media interaction Alia was asked her experience about working with her mother. She said, “I was surprised that why no one cast us together before this, as there have been so many real life father-son duos acting together. I was nervous not for myself but for her. I hoped my mother had memorized all the dialogues. I would get nervous if she forgot her dialogues. Obviously, she has worked for far longer than I have and has done theatre and she is a much better actor than I am. I was surprised to see her so chilled out at the sets. I had become the mother in those initial days of shooting, fretting over my mom’s acting and dialogue delivery. We were in Kashmir and we had a great time. It was a beautiful experience.”
Talking about her mother, Alia further added, “I used to get annoyed with my mother’s habit of advising everyone on what medicines to take and how to eat right. I used to say that are you a doctor or a nutritionist, but now I do the same thing, and I have realized that I have become exactly like my mother.” Alia plays the central character in the film and had to undergo rigorous training to portray a spy. The film is slated to release on May 11, 2018.
