Alia feels Anushka will make a good captain of a women’s celebrity cricket team, to name it 'Chaan Mulgi'

India is ruled by two things – Bollywood and Cricket, and more often than not the two overlap. Right now the Indian Premier League is going on and has been one of the most awaited cricket tournaments of the year. The IPL season sees a gamut of Bollywood celebrities thronging the stadium not only because some of them own a few teams but also because some of the stars are dating the cricketers or are married to them. Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, Preity Zinta and now Anushka Sharma have become a common fixture in the stands that can be seen cheering for their teams or cricketers.

However, Alia Bhatt who is busy promoting her spy thriller Raazi feels there is great potential in an ideal women’s celebrity cricket team. Alia recently was a part of the IPL 2018 where she promoted her film with Brett Lee and Irfan Pathan.

Alia plays the role of a spy in Raazi which is directed by Meghna Gulzar and also stars Vicky Kaushal, Soni Razdan, Rajit Kapoor and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film is an adaptation of Harinder Singh Sikka's novel Calling Sehmat.

In an interaction, Alia was asked about her opinion on the team and who all can make the cut, and she had this to say, “Anushka Sharma would make a good captain of the team with Kangana Ranaut as an excellent all-rounder and Katrina Kaif as the key fielder as she is extremely agile. I would name the team Chaan Mulgi.” Alia even named the team Chaan Mulgi which means 'good girls' in Marathi.

Alia’s trust in Anushka’s leadership skills is immense and looks like the latter might give a tough competition to husband Virat Kohli who is busy captaining the Royal Challengers Bangalore side in this year’s IPL. Alia’s suggestion about the team does make one think that a team like this would be an exciting one after all the male actors do play exhibition matches of football and cricket, isn’t it time our leading ladies also took to some sport and exhibited their sportsman spirit?
