Film star Salman Khan appeared before the Jodhpur sessions court today for a hearing on the Blackbuck poaching case for which he has been convicted for a jail term of five years but is out on bail. The hearing was for his appeal on suspension of his sentence. However, the hearing has been postponed and the next scheduled date for hearing is July 17, 2018.
District and Session Judge Chandra Kumar Songara postponed the hearing as Salman’s lawyer Mahesh Bora wanted some more time to present his case. A month ago, Salman was convicted by the Jodhpur court for allegedly shooting and killing blackbucks in Kankani village near Jodhpur on October 1, 1998, where he was shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s film Hum Saath Saath Hain. His co-actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam, and Sonali Bendre were also accused in the case but were acquitted in the court’s judgment last month.
