Karan Johar’s popular talk show Koffee With Karan will soon air its sixth season on television. The show which boasts of bringing Bollywood celebrities in a close and candid tete-a-tete with Johar will start airing in October. It was being speculated that the newest ‘It’ couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli who created quite a stir by getting married last year in a fairytale wedding ceremony witnessed only by close family and friends were expected to headline the opening episode. However, that does not seem to materialize given the hectic schedule of the couple.
Karan was looking forward to getting the Indian cricket captain and his star wife on the couch as his show generally focuses on Bollywood celebrities but looks like his desire will not get fulfilled so fast. However, Karan’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai star cast comprising of Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji might just headline the show in its sixth season.
The timing for the trio to appear on the show seems to be perfect as the show will start rolling from September and first episode will only air in October which is also when Kuch Kuch Hota Hai will celebrate 20 years of its release. The film was Karan’s debut movie as director and catapulted him into the league of A-list directors. It was released on October 16, 1998.
SRK, Kajol and Rani had earlier opened Season 2 of KWK way back in 2007. The episode was much liked by the audience where Kajol was at her effervescent best, Shah Rukh was his witty self and Rani stuck to her diplomatic exterior. We would have to wait and watch to find out how the director would revamp the show and bring something new to the table as the past few seasons and episodes have become pretty repetitive in nature.

A source close to Johar said about the news of the three actors appearing on the show, “One may argue that the combination lacks novelty, but it scores on nostalgic value. The line-up is yet to be drawn. It's still in the brainstorming stage. A lot of names are being tossed around and it's too early to say."
