INSIDE PICS: Newlyweds Sonam and Anand are smitten and we are too

Finally, these two lovebirds are hitched! Li’l princess Sonam Kapoor married her own prince - Anand Ahuja - and life couldn’t get more perfect. They are couple du jour across the country, with hashtags Everyday Phenomenal and Sonam Ki Shaadi being the flavour of a long and happy day of celebration and new beginnings.

The long-time lovers were wed in a traditional Anand Karaj ceremony at Sonam’s aunt’s heritage bungalow Rockdale. It was intimate and special and warm and beautiful – just the way they wanted it. The flower-bedecked classy venue couldn’t have made a better frame for the lovely couple, as they took their sacred vows surrounded by their family and close friends.

And the bride looked ravishing! Sonam plumped for a traditional red Anuradha Vakil lehenga. She proved her preference for vintage textiles over blingy sequins and hopefully will inspire more brides similarly for their big day. The princess bride accessorised her look with fabulous vintage style jewellery, which included a choker layered with a guttapusalu necklace and mulita -stranded matha patti. All that and a 1000-watt smile; what’s not to love?!

Pink turned out to be the unofficial hue of the day, with not just the pink-hued flowers decorating the venue but many celeb guests sporting shades of the fresh and beautiful colour. From Kareena, to Karan Johar, to Rhea Kapoor, Kiran Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, they all glowed in rosy hues. Even the inner lining of Sonam’s dupatta sported a deep shade of pink.

Even as Sonam takes on her new name – Sonam Kapoor Ahuja – with pride, the messages of love and congratulations are pouring in for the happy couple. Her brother Harshvardhan took to social media to warn, “Mush alert,” before telling his sister that there is no one quite like her and no one with a bigger heart. “You’re a lucky man,” he tells Anand Ahuja, before reminding his new brother-in-law to remember that he was here first!
