Varmala Warmth

A little girl in a candy store – clearly not the jewelry, not the fancy celebration can match up to Sonam’s sheer delight in her new groom. She literally leaped to be the first one to clasp the beautiful varmala around Anand’s neck. Then she manages to get her kaleerein snagged on his coat and promptly apologizes to ‘Babu’, which is probably her pet name for Anand. Someone in the background teasingly suggests she get used to addressing her husband as ‘Aap’ and she can’t stop smiling. When it’s Anand’s turn to affix the varmala around his beloved’s neck, he asks how he should do it. As Sonam explains, again she is advised not to give him directions. Anand promptly informs that he had asked her, as the women go on to tease him about how protective he is of her! Her “Ooie ma,” that comes after he completes that little ritual is beyond cute.

You may hug the groom!

Adorable was the sight of Sonam crouching a little to allow her groom Anand to decorate her hair parting with the sacred sindoor. Friends like family

It was heartening to see all the close friends of the Kapoors, gathered around to witness this wonderful occasion. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan had donned the special wedding turbans, while Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao didn’t miss the rituals. Sonam’s Veere… gal Kareena Kapoor was accompanied by husband Saif Ali Khan and adorable tot Taimur in festive wear. Ranveer Singh, who had missed out on the pre-wedding festivities, made up for his earlier absence, while Karan Johar, Swara Bhaskar, Rani Mukerji, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Dhawan stayed close to the couple all through.

The families shared their joy with the media capturing the red carpet appearances for the wedding. They were treated to the choicest mithai, distributed by the family members including Harshvardhan Kapoor. The sweet treats came accompanied by a note thanking them for their constant support and love.

Obviously, big smacking kisses were being generously shared all around. Anand and Swara planted one each on Sonam’s pretty cheeks, while Anil Kapoor’s expression, as he is sandwiched between Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, is priceless!
