The latest poster of Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju takes us back to 2013 when Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to serve the last leg of his jail term. In the poster, Ranbir carries a droopy face with a thick grey beard and is seen wearing the white kurta-pyjama.
Sharing the poster, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, wrote on Twitter, "I met Sanju in Jail in 2013. Recreation of how he looked then"

In 2013, Sanjay had just completed shooting for his last hit film - PK, which was also directed by Rajkumar Hirani, when he was put behind bars for the completion of the remaining prison period for the possession of illegal weapons and having associations with the gangsters involved in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. Already having served time in jail, this time around he went in for 42 months.
Sanjay was released from the infamous Yerwada jail in February 2016. He was even granted remission of seven days a month and that is how November release came down to February. This remission was granted to him on the basis of his behaviour during the period he spent in jail. In fact, Sanjay even hosted an internal radio show 'Radio YCP' that was broadcasted in the Yerwada Jail.

The makers of the film have been open about the fact that this film highlights every bit of Sanjay Dutt's life and so, an account on his lowest phase - the prison period is bound to be the highlight of the film just as it is in the actor's life.
The constant posters with Ranbir's uncanny resemblance to Sanjay are making our interest levels pique sky high and this definitely makes it one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Sanju also features Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal and Manisha Koirala. It is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s VVC films and Fox Star Studios and is set to release on June 29, 2018.
