With the legal battles put to rest, John Abraham starrer Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran has finally released the first trailer of the film, which hits screens on May 25. The film is based on the historic 1998 Pokhran blasts which were conducted by the NDA government.
The trailer starts off with real vintage footage of key moments from India’s history, with a voiceover by Boman Irani announcing that in India’s history there have been some days which are written in gold. We see images of India’s Independence in 1947, India’s defeat of Pakistan in 1971, and India’s World Cup victory in 1983. However, there was one historic mission in 1998 which got lost amidst the pages of history itself…

And with that, we are introduced to one secret mission that shook the world: Parmanu. John Abraham helms a team of fatigues-clad army personnel, as he announces, “It’s time for India to become a nuclear state. We will no longer stay quiet out of fear; we will do it and sit in peace.”

The trailer delves into the 1998 Pokhran blasts being spear-headed by six Indian army officers who posed as officials of the Archaeological Survey of India, as they covertly prepped for D-day.
A riveting watch, the trailer successfully builds interest in Mission Parmanu, which had been conducted under wraps, owing to the political and international climate of the time.
