The 90th Academy Awards remembered Bollywood icons Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor, who passed away on December 4 and February 24 respectively, during the In Memoriam leaving the country proud.

And now it is during the Cannes Film Festival that the late actress will be honoured for her contribution to the Indian cinema at Titan Reginald F. Lewis Film Honours. Speaking about the same Boney Kapoor told a leading daily, “I’m happy that people from the world over are recognising her body of work and her contribution to cinema. Even though the overwhelming emptiness of losing her remains, it’s comforting to know that she lives on through her work.”

To receive the honour bestowed, Boney with daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor will attend the event which will be held on the 16th of May.

The late actress had recently received the Best Actress Award at the National Film Awards this year for her performance in Mom, which was her 300th film. Speaking about the honour conferred on his late wife, Boney had declared, “An artist always looks for an honourable honour and there cannot be a bigger honour than National Awards.” He also added emotionally, “Sridevi would have been very happy today. We miss her, it is a very proud moment at the same time.”

In mid-February this year, while Sridevi was still very much alive and well, news had emerged of a Sridevi Bangalore fan club that was creating a special documentary to mark the 53-year-old actress’s 50 years in films. The five-part docu-drama series was pegged to feature her life and achievements in films. However, after the untimely demise of Sridevi, Boney Kapoor is planning to depict his legendary actress wife’s journey on film himself. He has already registered three titles of the upcoming film with the Title Registration Committee of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA).
