John Abraham says, "Parmanu is not anti-Pakistan"

Parmanu - The Story Of Pokhran, a Bollywood movie on India's nuclear test in 1998, is a pro-India, but not anti-Pakistan film, says actor-producer, John Abraham, while the film's director said it will release across 300 screens in Pakistan. At the film's trailer launch on Friday, the team was asked about plans for the film's release in Pakistan.

"It's coming in 300 screens in Pakistan," director Abhishek Sharma quipped. This was previously taken as a joke but the director clarified that it was really happening. On a serious note, John said, "To answer that question, this is not an anti-Pakistan film, it is a very pro-India film. So, we are very clear this is a film about India and we are going to celebrate this.

"If we start thinking about other markets, we would be compromising on our film. We wanted to tell the story as it is." At the trailer launch of the movie on Friday -- coinciding with the 20th anniversary of India's nuclear test explosions at Pokhran -- John told the media: "We are not here to throw mud on anybody's face, we want to keep it clean. We want to keep the controversy aside. We are confident about the film and the subject that we have chosen."

The film was in a lockdown after its initial co-producers JA Entertainment and KriArj Entertainment became at loggerheads. John had filed criminal cases against Prernaa Arora and her company KriArj Entertainment, for cheating, breach of trust, defamation and offences committed under the Information Technology Act.

The film features John Abraham, Diana Penty, Boman Irani, Vikas Khanna. After many struggles and controversies, the film will finally be released on May 25, 2018.
