Karan Malhotra’s dream project Shamshera is finally all set to go on floors. The first look of the film shows Ranbir Kapoor in an entirely transformed avatar, as a dacoit. Fighting him through the conflicts of the film will be Sanjay Dutt and now joining the troop as the leading lady is Vaani Kapoor. She will be playing the character of the most desirable and sought-after travelling performer of the country.

Director Karan describes Vaani as the “perfect fit for the role” and believes her to be “a fine actor, a fabulous dancer and a gorgeous Hindi film heroine.” He said, “Vaani plays Ranbir’s love interest in the film and is a very important collaborator in his character’s journey. Her character graph is interlinked to the plot of the film making her a crucial catalyst in our hero’s rebellious mission. We wanted someone absolutely fresh to wow audiences on the big screen and she beautifully fits that brief.”

Karan has previously given hits like the famous remake of the revenge drama Agneepath and action film Brothers. Shamshera is said to be a 3-part movie deal with the director and the studio. Talking about the movie, Ranbir shared, “Shamshera is exactly the film I was looking for. While growing up watching Hindi commercial cinema, I had an image of what a film hero should be doing. Shamshera allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it’s a very exciting project for me. Karan is going to take me completely out of my comfort zone and I’m looking forward to this challenge.”

Yash Raj Film’s high-octane and larger-than-life action adventure will have jaw-dropping action sequences between Ranbir and Sanjay. Sanjay plays the merciless nemesis of Ranbir in the film. Shamshera is all set to start rolling by the end of this year. The filming is expected to be wrapped by the mid of next year.
