Wow Factor: Disha Patani will play a trapeze artist in Salman Khan’s Bharat

Now here’s a nice break for Disha Patani. The young stunner has been roped in for the Salman Khan-Priyanka Chopra drama, Bharat. Disha will play a trapeze artist in a circus, a character which is essential to the storyline. It is learnt that Disha’s portion will be set in the 1960s.

Bharat, which is pegged for a 2019 Eid release, will tee off filming in July. The film is an official adaptation of the 2014 South Korean film, Ode To My Father. While the original had featured modern Korean history from the 1950s to the current day through the life of an ordinary man and events, the Indian version will be set against India’s landmarks in history from 1947 to the 2000s.

For those wondering about the circus segment in Bharat, it is learned that the portion is director Ali Abbas Zafar’s tribute to Raj Kapoor film, Mera Naam Joker. The film had depicted the life of a clown and other circus artistes, underlining the mantra that the show must go on, whatever the odds.

Regarding the casting of Disha, Ali shares that their pairing set in a circus scenario of the Sixties is both unusual and exciting. He adds that Disha is a promising star and as they needed to cast a girl who looked vulnerable and beautiful and yet had the physicality of an athlete, she fit the bill perfectly. Disha will need to brush up on the skills required for a trapeze artist, who are known for their strength, flexibility and agility. That should not be a very tough task for the actress, who is a martial arts exponent.

Naturally, she is looking forward to prepping for this unique role, which will see her play opposite the reigning box office king, Salman Khan. “I’m excited to be a part of Bharat, it’s like a dream come true to get an opportunity to work with Salman sir and I can’t wait for the journey to begin. I am a big fan of Ali Abbas sir’s work,” she raved. There’s going to be lots more raving in store, we can see!
