The trolling should now officially stop: Alia Bhatt has proved she is smarter than Varun Dhawan! The pair, who will be seen in their fourth film together, Abhishek Varman’s Kalank, participated in the game show ‘Sabse Smart Kaun’. Hosted by TV actor Ravi Dubey, Varun and Alia were in opposing teams as they battled it out over of pictorial puzzles.
The game show saw the celebrity guests sharing vignettes from their life before showbiz. Talking about her first paycheque, Alia revealed that she had once sold lemonade as a child in her backyard and earned a princely sum of Rs.500. Meanwhile, Varun informed that he had held other jobs before his Bollywood break. He shared that he worked as an assistant director (on Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan) and had also made and acted in short films.

Then, of course, it was time to get down to business… “Everyone feels that they are inherently smart (paidaayshi akalmand hain hum log). This is the perfect platform to test that claim,” as Varun put it. As luck – or brains! – would have it, it was Alia who stole the show. She apparently scored six out of nine brain-teasers. A whopping win, considering Varun only got three right! It led to the dishy actor openly declaring, “Alia has proved on this show that she is smart and it doesn’t require bookish knowledge.”
Alia’s apparent lack of bookish knowledge had become a free-for-all trolling point, after her gaffe on ‘Koffee With Karan’. However, the spunky girl has always maintained that she would rather be “stupid than pretend” to be smart and intelligent. She had added, “One day, if the jokes on me stop coming, I’ll be upset. I am either relevant or irrelevant. If I am crossing your mind at any point of the day, I am relevant. So why I should be upset? My father says one day, the flowers will stop coming and you’ll be upset. I say one day, the jokes will stop coming, and then I’ll be upset!”
