In something of a weird coincidence, Disha Patani’s lifespan onscreen has been rudely cut off in both her releases so far. In Neeraj Pandey’s Dhoni: The Untold Story, she played the hero’s love interest Priyanka Jha, who has a premonition that she will die young and her life is indeed cut short in a car accident. Baaghi 2 went the same path, as she plays a grieving mother, who commits suicide as she is unable to bear the burden of losing her child.
Though her role in the Tiger Shroff-starrer was longer than her debut film, it was still a brief encounter for Disha on the big screen. In fact, alleged boyfriend Tiger even rushed to her defence, claiming, “Just a coincidence, I guess. And it’s never about the size but the performance. Look at what a deep impact Disha leaves in both Dhoni... and Baaghi.”

The scenario is now apparently set to repeat itself with Bharat. The stunning lass had cause for celebration when she was signed on for the Salman Khan film to be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
Buzz had it that the role was not a cameo and that Disha would have a strong part which is pivotal to the film's storyline. Pegged to play the younger Salman's love interest, a trapeze artist in the film, director Ali had shared, “The pairing of Salman and Disha in a circus set-up in the '60s is unusual and exciting. She is a promising star and for this character, we needed a girl who looked vulnerable and beautiful yet had the physicality of an athlete. Disha fit the bill perfectly.”
However, now it emerges that despite being cast opposite the superstar, Disha’s role in Bharat, too, will have limited screen time. Her role in the Partition-based drama is apparently way smaller compared to that of Priyanka Chopra’s. Apparently, Salman’s character, who goes from age 20 to 70, encounters Disha’s character when he is young. However, it is a passing phase and the pair do not end up together – a given, considering Priyanka is the film’s leading lady! Of course, that’s no reason to knock Disha; kudos to the lass for coming a long way already!
