Courts will get exciting: Yami to attend court proceedings for Batti Gul Meter Chalu

After non-stop shooting in Uttarakhand, the filming of Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu had ground to a halt due to a financial crisis. Shooting for this film, starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam had stopped due to non-payment of dues. Thankfully, it is good news for this social drama, as producers Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment exited the project which has now been taken over by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar as principal producer.

With the film’s team returning to the sets last week, it is also time for Yami Gautam to resume her prep for the film. And this includes attending court proceedings to get a look and feel of it for her role as a lawyer. Sources reveal that the pretty actress is continuing her preparation for her role in the film which highlights the irregularities of electricity billing in small towns. This is an issue that affects many people across the country. Unhappy consumers have no choice but to seek legal recourse and several such cases are brought to the courts.

In order to better understand the legal proceedings, Yami will be following a few cases in court to directly understand the grievances. She wishes to personally experience how the prosecution addresses these cases and will also study some of the verdicts.

While this could sound deathly boring to some, it is right up Yami’s street. The actress reveals that she had actually studied law in college but couldn’t pursue it further as her acting career had taken off simultaneously. She shares, “As of now, since its summer holidays, my lawyer friend and the team are figuring out a vacation bench session that I can attend depending on my current schedule. I am looking forward to the real experience at a court.”

Yami also feels essaying her role will be easy as the story is set in North India, where she herself hails from. Her character is a headstrong girl who stands for what she believes in.
