Photographs of Saif Ali Khan accompanying daughter Sara Ali Khan to Kedarnath director Abhishek Kapoor’s office on Wednesday raised eyebrows… Mainly because it has so far always been Sara’s mother Amrita Singh who has accompanied her on all her professional meets. Now it is learnt that daddy Saif has stepped in to help clear the date logjam in Sara’s diary.
As we already know, when Sara Ali Khan was signed up for her debut film, the agency which manages her work had allocated all her dates till July to director Abhishek Kapoor. However, the disaster film Kedarnath went on to face too many real-life disaster situations as well. The biggest blow was the tussle between Abhishek and co-producers KriArj Entertainment. With shooting suspended, the very fate of this film was under a cloud.

This was definitely a very difficult time for Sara, whose debut with Kedarnath seemed unlikely to hit screens even in the distant future. A silver lining then appeared when she was made an attractive offer - the female lead in Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty’s joint production, Simmba. Naturally, this Ranveer Singh-starrer was quickly greenlighted. Her agency promptly allocated the required dates to Simmba which seemed likely to become her new debut film.
As luck would have it, Ronnie Screwvala stepped in to resolve the Kedarnath impasse. With KriArj compensated and out of the picture, the film was back on track. Abhishek went ahead and announced November 30 as the film’s release date. He would also require Sara’s dates in June to complete filming. And therein lay the problem… Sara’s agency had already allotted her dates till July to Simmba! In fact, the Rohit Shetty directorial is set to begin filming on June 6.
It is in order to resolve this issue that Abhishek apparently requested Sara’s father, Saif Ali Khan to intervene. It was in this regard that the father-daughter duo visited Abhishek. Saif is committed to resolving the date hassle as best as possible. Hopefully, the situation will be resolved soon to every party’s benefit.
