She may belong to the nepotism squad but there is no questioning Alia Bhatt's prowess in her area of expertise. Daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, acting was always the calling for Alia. Karan Johar provided the gorgeous girl with an easy launchpad - Student Of The Year but there is no denying that she always had the audience spiraling to a whole gamut of emotions with every character that she has played.
Basking in the glory of her recent outing Raazi, Alia has already hopped onto her next project. She is currently filming Kalank co-starring Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit. However, rumours were rife that she was ready to tick off Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, director of Bareilly ki Barfi off her bucket list. But if a report published in a tabloid is to be believed, she already has greenlit the project.

The tabloid states in its report that the Udta Punjab actress has given her nod for Ashwiny's slice-of-life comedy-drama. The film, as per the report, is written by Dangal writer-director and Ashwiny’s husband, Nitesh Tiwari, along with co-writer Nikhil Mehrotra. "After wrapping up Raazi, Alia was excited about doing a film from a completely different genre. She had been raving about the project since the script narration and was keen to come on board. Finalising the details took a while, but the actress gave her nod to the project after reviewing her dates. She will be stepping into a never-seen-before avatar for the comedy-drama,” the report quoted a source as saying.
Recently, in an interview given to another daily, Alia refrained from making any comments but dropped a few hints.“I am definitely going to do a film with Ashwiny because she is a fabulous director. Although it (the film) is sort of confirmed, I am not saying it myself, because there will be an official announcement soon. They (Ashwiny and the film’s makers) have brought an extremely fun concept to me. I am really excited, as that’s going to be my breakaway film from all the serious ones (that I am doing). Ab main ek light-hearted film Karne wali hoon” she had shared then.
Workwise, Alia is also filming for Karan Johar-produced Brahmastra which also stars her alleged lover Ranbir Kapoor and veteran Amitabh Bachchan. She has Valentine's Day 2019 release Gully Boy opposite Ranveer Singh and helmed by Zoya Akhtar.
