After months of speculation and rumours that the couple is heading for a splitsville, Arjun Rampal and wife Mehr Jessia called it quits. The two decided to separate after 20-years of being married to each other and issued a statement regarding their decision today. The two were considered having a rock-solid marriage as they had been together since their modeling days and have two daughters Mahikaa and Myra. However, we can’t help but remember their first interview on Simi Garewal’s show right after they got married in 1998.

Simi Garewal’s show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal was a popular show in the 90s that brought celebrities along with their families to talk about themselves and their lives. Some of the popular episodes from the show saw Amitabh Bachchan appearing with wife Jaya, daughter Shweta and son Abhishek, Shah Rukh Khan with Gauri Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Hrithik Roshan and others. On Simi’s show Arjun and Mehr looked beautiful as a couple, so in love and in tandem with each other and they believed heart and soul in their relationship.

During the interview Simi had asked Arjun how honest he would be in his relationship with Mehr and he had said, “I think any kind of relationship is build up on a level of complete honesty and trust. It’s 100 percent trust. If you are not going to give that kind of treatment to it then it’s no point of calling it a relationship; you call it a lie.” While Mehr too seconded his thoughts and added, “I think in a relationship, how much ever you want to hide, there will come a day when it all comes out. Arjun adds, “You can’t run away from it you know. You can’t run away from the truth and I mean, who are you hiding for?”

Today, Mehr and Arjun issued a joint statement about their separation that read, “After a 20-year-long beautiful journey filled with love and beautiful memories, we would like to share, that all journeys have different paths. We have always been solid when it has come to us, we will continue to be solid for each other and our loved ones, as we embark upon a new journey. Both of us being extremely private people feel strange to be making this statement, but such are the circumstances of our lives. Where the truth can get distorted and lost.We are a family, our love for each other is forever intact and we shall always be there for one another and most importantly, for our children Mahikaa and Myra. We would, therefore, appreciate our privacy through this time. Thank all for their support. Relationships can end, but love lives on. We won’t be commenting on this any further.”
