We have been hearing the Veere girls speak about how each role is important in its own way etc. etc. Yet everyone couldn’t stop wondering just why on earth Sonam Kapoor Ahuja wasn’t playing the central character in a film produced by her family! Now the actress finally comes out to clarify her reasons.
She says, “I don't believe that I need to play the central character. It's the character I wanted to play the most and I had the choice and I chose Avni. It worked out really well...” And then she goes on to spill an even more important detail… “If I had chosen to play the central character, I don't think any other mainstream actress would have done the film.”

At the end of the day, it all boils down to business. Kareena Kapoor Khan headlining Veere Di Wedding adds enormously to the film’s commercial value and this is a fact that could not be ignored by the Anil Kapoor family. It was the reason why she chose to take second place to Kareena, who plays the main lead, Kalindi.
Asked whether stardom comes with a price tag, Sonam maintained, “I have never gone for fame or stardom. I have always gone for good work. So when you are not seeking something out, there is no price tag attached to it. It just comes naturally.”
She also pointed out that it has never been a conscious decision on her part to do various genres of films. “I don’t think about this is a masala film or this is a ‘this’ film... I think it is just the kind of film that I want to do...the character I really enjoy doing and working in,” she vouched.
Sonam continues to follow her heart when it comes to choosing roles. Not even her National Film Award - Special Mention for Neerja in 2016 adds any pressure, she insists. “I don’t take any kind of pressure. It’s just a matter of what makes me feel passionate. It could be anything,” said the recently married star. Well, that is refreshingly different!
