Rock on: Farhan Akhtar and Vivek Oberoi will collaborate for anti-smoking concert

It is World No Tobacco Day tomorrow and spreading the message in the best way possible – through music – will be Farhan Akhtar and Vivek Oberoi. The two actors will collaborate for a concert to be held in the city. Apparently, the two have been friends for long and are staunch believers in the cause as well. Farhan and Vivek have come together to fight against cancer in association with Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA), which Vivek has been associated with for more than a decade.

At the free concert to be held at Rangsharda, Bandra on May 31, Farhan will perform without a fee. No wonder Y K Sapru, founder, chairman and CEO, CPAA, calls the singer-actor, “a talented artiste with a golden heart”. Titled Farhan Akhtar Live In Concert, Love For Life Begins With Music, the anti-tobacco message will be sent out via music, the best way to reach out to the youth. Funds raised for the event via its sponsors will go towards the treatment of needy cancer patients, apart from awareness campaigns about the ill-effects of tobacco.

Farhan had earlier spoken about his association with the organization, saying, “I am happy to be associated with this important cause that can make a difference to society. I am thankful to the CPAA for inviting me to use my music as a platform for spreading awareness.”

He is set to perform some of his best hits including “Sinbad The Sailor”, “Dil Dhadakne Do”, “Main Aisa Kyun Hoon”, “Socha Hai”, “Pichhle Saat Dinon Mein”, “Atrangi Yaari”, “Tum Ho Toh”, “Senorita”, “Havan Kund”, “Dil Chahta Hai” and “Rock On”. He will also recite two poems, Toh Zinda Ho Tum and Dil Aakhir Tu Kyon Rota Hai, from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), during his 90-minute set. Singers Neha Bhasin and Divya Kumar will also part of the artiste line-up. Love for life does begin with music, and we will be there to see it happen.
