Ranbir Kapoor is all geared up for Sanju, his next, directed by Rajukmar Hirani. The actor plays the character of menacing Sanjay Dutt in the movie and accepts that the experience of shooting the film has been an emotional roller coaster ride for him. At the launch of the trailer in Mumbai, on June 30, the actor talked about many things including his preparation for the character, the most challenging part, using prosthetics and more.
Here are a few interesting statements he made:
On the most difficult part of Sanju:
I think the most challenging part was the young Sanjay Dutt, when he was just starting out his career, he was dealing with the loss of his mother's death, drugs...So, the first chapter of Sanjay Dutt was very challenging.
On work done to look like Sanjay Dutt:
I had to sit for prosthetics for 5-6 hours everyday when we had to do the whole Sanjay Dutt look. So, when he comes out of jail, which is in the blue shirt, we can see that in the poster as well -- that look is my favourite. I was very happy sitting on the chair for five hours to get that look done.
On working with Sonam Kapoor after a long time:
Sonam and I worked together 11 years back in Saawariya. We worked for two years on the film. After that, we didn't get an opportunity to work together. Sonam hasn't changed. She has the same personality that she had in the days when we were assistants to SLB in Black. The only thing that has changed in her is that she has become and even better actress.
On being Rajkumar Hirani's hero now:
Working with Rajkumar Hirani is every actor's dream. The kind of love his others films have got, even if we get 20 per cent of it, I would be so happy.
On how Neetu Kapoor reacted to Sanju:
My mother is my biggest fan. So, whatever I do, she loves. When she saw Bombay Velvet, she thought it was the greatest film in the world.

On not being on social media:
I don't miss being on social media. I am fine being away from it. But, never say never. May be tomorrow, I will come. Right now, I am happy being away from it.
On performing a scene where he had to go nude in Sanju:
Main toh pehli film se nude chala gaya tha. Towel gir gaya tha. I am very shy in my real life. But, when the camera is on, I am not shy. I am portraying a character, you have to be nude in your emotions.
Also featuring Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal, Jim Sarbh and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles, Sanju is slated for release on June 29.
