Batti Gul Meter Chalu: Shahid and Shraddha off to a remote village in Uttarakhand for shoot

Now that the Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapor and Yami Gautam starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu has started it’s shooting once again after all the financial and monetary issue getting solved and the producers being changed. The film’s shooting had started in the picturesque landscape of Tehri which is the perfect location for a romantic song between the main leads. However, to depict abject poverty the filmmakers were on the hunt for a village that could serve as the probable backdrop.

A secluded location about 100 kilometers from Tehri in Uttarakhand has been scouted for the shoot and a 15-day schedule started on Wednesday. The director of the film, Shree Narayan Singh wants the film to be as authenticated as possible so they are going to great lengths to ensure this. A source close to the film shared with a leading daily, “The shoot could have been conducted in Mumbai, but Shree wanted to ensure the scene looked authentic. The unit will need to travel for a couple of hours daily to reach the spot, but Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are willing to do so."

The film is being directed by Shree Narayan Singh and was first produced by Prernaa Arora’s KriArj Entertainment but now has been taken up by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.The shooting of the film was stalled due to non-payment by the production house and even the actors had refused from continuing the shoot of the film.

The film’s script is such that as many as 20 locations were scouted during the recent as electric poles and electric wires cannot be captured for the film. The village in Uttarakhand which has been zeroed down does not have electric poles for a vast area of land and that is what made the filmmakers choose the spot. The source added, “It's a sparsely populated area, which will help them capture the lush landscape.”
