The news came in light when Ranveer, who was supposed to attend an event in the day, cancelled it last minute, citing his grandmother's death. The actor's team sent a message across all media platforms which stated, "EVENT CANCELLATION - We are sorry to inform you that the Switzerland Tourism press conference with Ranveer Singh that was scheduled for today at 1.30pm at Lands End has been canceled due to the sudden demise of Ranveer Singh’s grandmother. We shall keep you posted on the revised date for the PC. We regret the inconvenience caused."

Earlier in January, Ranveer’s girlfriend, Deepika Padukone had visited his grandmother, as she was unwell. Reportedly, the actor was extremely close to his grandmother. In an interview with a leading magazine, he had talked about how his grandmother is the reason he has grown up to be so affectionate. “As important to me as oxygen and water. I am very affectionate with everybody – my fans, my family. I was raised that way. My grandmother mollycoddled me. There was lots of hugging and kissing in my house,” Ranveer had shared.
