Rajkummar Rao on Wednesday June 6, 2018, took to Twitter to unveil the first teaser of his forthcoming film Stree. The teaser which is only 59 seconds long is highly intriguing and very spooky.
The actor wrote on Twitter, “Stree ke baare mein zyada nahi jaanta hoon, bas sab kehte hain aa rahi hai woh.” Enough to grip our hearts, we can't wait for this spookfest to hit the theatres.
The teaser opens in a semi-urban are where no one can be seen but a voice in the background says, “O Stree, kal aana. Yahan koi mard nahi,” and on the walls of every house there is written in red paint the phrase, “O Stree kal aana.” Towards the end of the teaser, the frame zooms out to show the feet of a woman visible hanging in the air, suggesting a murder or a suicide. The teaser is eerie and has a spooky air to it which makes one wonder what is the plot of the film, especially when the teaser states at the starting that it is based on “ridiculously true events”.

The film stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles and has been directed by Amar Kaushik. Written by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, Stree definitely looks like a horror film. The film has been shot at Chanderi, a small town near Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The project is being produced by Dinesh Vijan under his company Maddock Films. The writer-director duo of Raj and DK are reuniting with Vijan after the Saif Ali Khan starrer Go Goa Gone, which they had also directed.
Stree ventures into the unexplored genre and locations with an unconventional cast of some of the best character artists in the industry. The film’s teaser has already gone viral and the audience anticipation is running high. The film is slated for an August 31, 2018, release.
