Bobby Deol opens up about success and failure: I had lost faith in myself

With Race 3 releasing in just a week, Bobby Deol says he's blessed to have some worthy work to do. He gets candid with at a recent media interaction as he speaks about his hardships, failed projects, his father being his inspiration and a lot more.

When asked about how he feels about coming back to Bollywood after the hiatus, Bobby said, "For me, the best thing is that since the trailer is out, there's a lot of positiveness, genuine reactions...especially when you meet people, but I'm happy about it."

He goes on to explain how the hardships he once thought were his weakness, changed his mindset. "I've had a bad phase, everyone has theirs and Salman was there for me. Even if I tried something like growing a beard which didn't suit me, he'd be like shave kar, you don't need it. There was a time when it was not working out for me. Even my outlook changed for the negative. Then came a day, like ye galat ho raha hai,... I was working hard, getting up at 3-4am, taking care of my image and what I eat...even though my movies didn't do well at the box office, my acting and work was being appreciated. I used to get calls for the same, it felt good."

He also added, "I don't let the negativity affect me, even though it's always more than positivity. I never realized why I lost the faith in myself? For example Salman...Even though he's is at another level, he still wants to work, Anil too, his energy is on another level always. I'm just 49, he's 60, but he behaves like he's 40!"

When asked about what made him gain his confidence back, he spoke of his father, the legendary actor, Dharmendra. " I realised very late that my inspiration is actually my father. I became ignorant, nothing inspired me, I never looked around enough, never opened my eyes to see how life is around me. My dad is a very competitive actor and I think that is how it should always be. You have to be your best and that's what he used to do,... That's what I'm trying to do now."
