Five years of absence from the big screen but not from the headlines – he has been making news for several reasons including the political party floated… Now Kamal Haasan returns to what he does best, so far: making sensational cinema. If the trailer is anything to go by, he is acing it with his upcoming Vishwaroopam 2, which sees him reprise the role of RAW agent, Wisam…

The original which had hit screens in 2013 had been set in the United States, while the sequel takes place in India. We see Wisam lock horns with Al-Qaeda terrorist, Omar Qureshi (Rahul Bose). The action draws you in immediately as we see Kamal escaping from Omar’s camp, after he along with the FBI, diffuse a bomb planted by the terrorist organization.

Replete with taut action sequences and stunning stunts, we see Kamal being brought to a military base in a critical condition, where the doctors try to revive him. Blending emotions with adventure, we see the sparks of romance between Wisam and his wife Dr Nirupama, played by Pooja Kumar. The couple is trying to revive their marriage. The film also showcases a strong mother-son bond between Wisam and his mother, played by Waheeda Rehman.

Vishwaroopam 2 takes its stunt quotient to the next level, keeping it intense and vivid, yet realistic. VFX of high quality to be seen in the underwater sequence, and the multiple explosions, blasts and rockets. The background music by Ghibran is stirring and combines beautifully with the visuals.

The man, Kamal Hassan himself, is unstoppable. The dedication, passion, vision and creativity of this veteran actor, who has also written and directed this Tamil-Hindi bilingual, is there to see in every frame.

Being released by Aamir Khan has given the trailer an additional powerful boost, as the actor-filmmaker is synonymous with quality cinema. Aamir shared the link of the trailer along with his congratulations and best wishes, adding, “Love and respect always."
