Salman Khan's Race 3 satellite rights sold for whopping Rs. 130 crore, beats Aamir Khan's Dangal record

Race 3 is setting records already… The Salman Khan-starrer has elbowed Dangal to take first place as the film bagging the highest satellite rights deal for a Bollywood film. This honour was previously held by the Aamir Khan film; but that is now a thing of the past. Buzz has it that the Ramesh Taurani production directed by Remo D’Souza, has secured an eye-watering Rs.130 crore for its satellite rights.

This already gives the film a cool advantage as far as revenues go. For starters, with this record deal, Race 3 has recovered its full cost of production. Incidentally, leading man Salman Khan’s last release, Tiger Zinda Hai had also secured a massive deal. Now the ante has been further upped, as a big network has come forward to acquire the satellite rights of Race 3.

Last month it was revealed that Salman Khan would turn distributor too, with his upcoming release, Race 3. The film will be distributed by Salman’s production house, and his father, Salim Khan is personally looking into the distribution aspect of the film. The superstar’s mother, Salma Khan is one of the producers of the film alongside Salman and Ramesh Taurani.

Industry insiders revealed that while Salman does not have the bandwidth to look into the nitty-gritty of the distribution, he is happy that his father will be overlooking things as the latter has vast experience in the film industry.

The third film in the franchise, Race 3 is keenly awaited, mainly for its stunning action sequences and thrilling plot. The multi-starrer is set to take action levels to an all-time high. Filmed at locations in Thailand and Abu Dhabi as well as Mumbai, the trailer and songs have been adding to the buzz. Set to release on the festival of Eid, June 15, both the trade and audiences are hoping it will be a sweet treat all the way.
