Advance bookings for Salman starrer Race 3 race ahead: Looks like we have a winner here

The buzz created by a Salman Khan starrer during the happy occasion of Eid is invariably huge. However, Race 3 seems to be bettering the superstar’s own record. Apparently, the third film in the action franchise has already registered an unparalleled high demand at the advance bookings counters.

With most films generally opening for advance booking on Wednesday, Race 3 has bucked the trend by opening on Sunday itself. The demand has been high, despite the festival of Ramzan being delayed this year, and naturally, it has left those in the trade smiling.

On account of its high entertainment value, the advance booking of this Salman-starrer has been zooming. Apparently, on the third day of advance bookings, two main theatres in Delhi recorded advance collections of more than Rs.20 lakh. That is something to celebrate. In fact, according to early reports, major Delhi theatres including Delite Cinema and Sheila Cinema, are showing even better figures than Salman’s last release, Tiger Zinda Hai had recorded. The multi-starrer is also in great demand in Uttar Pradesh, what with every theatre eager to screen the film in multiple screens.

What’s more, tickets are also selling out in places like Nagpur, Raipur, Bilaspur, Jabalpur and Korba. According to a key distributor, these centres have recorded excellent advance bookings. Advance bookings are also steadily rising in Chhatisgarh, Maharashtra, and parts of Madhya Pradesh. This is prompting the trade to predict that by the time the film releases on Friday, it will be a super-hit.

Recently, the film toppled Aamir Khan’s Dangal record by apparently bagging a Rs.130 crore satellite rights deal with a major television network. This is arguably the highest deal for a Bollywood film - a slot that was previously held by Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal with Rs.110 crore.

This figure is touted to be more than the film’s budget. While declining to comment on the rumoured figure, Race 3 producer Ramesh Taurani had earlier shared, “Big-budget films like Race 3 need to sell off the (satellite and digital) rights at a high cost in order to enter the safe zone.”

With advance bookings zooming, the zone looks safer still!
