Amitabh Bachchan is rising even further in our estimation. Behind the scenes, the legendary superstar has been offering considerable help to the cause of army martyrs and farmers. Word has it that he has donated a large amount for the welfare of Indian army widows and for the uplift of farmers. In fact, he has apparently set aside no less than Rs.1 crore each for the families of the army martyrs and to help farmers repay their loans. And when Bachchan takes up a cause, he does it thoroughly: he has even set up a team to list and locate authentic organizations, in a bid to ensure that the financial aid reaches the right people.
Hopefully, his noble and much-needed gesture will inspire more people to step in and render help to the families of jawans and farmers, both of whom serve the country in their own way and battle severe adversity.

Over his long and illustrious career, Bachchan has supported many charitable initiatives, including Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the Beti Bachao Andolan, Polio Eradication Campaign and a mass awareness campaign about Tuberculosis. He has contributed towards repayment of farmer loans in Andhra Pradesh and in Vidarbha, helping save several farmers who have been in dire straits.
He has been equally staunch in his support of the armed forces. Two years ago on his 74th birthday, he had addressed the media in Mumbai and when asked to comment on the issue of Pakistani artists being banned from working in India, the veteran actor said the country is angry now and it is the time to show solidarity with our soldiers. “People of this country are very angry by the incidents that have been happening at our borders, it's time to show solidarity. It’s time to show solidarity towards our jawans and armed forces who are sacrificing their lives so that you and me can be safe,” he added.
