Jhund: Nagraj Manjule's film's shoot starts from August, Amitabh eager to meet Vijay Barse

After T-series head honcho Bhushan Kumar stepped in to save the day for Sairat fame director Nagraj Manjule’s Hindi debut Jhund starring veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, the biopic is now all set to roll in August. The film is based on Vijay Barse, a retired school teacher in Nagpur who teaches the slum kids the game of football. Amitabh was roped in to play the role of Vijay Barse in the film. Manjule is a Marathi film director who is making his Hindi debut with this film.

Amitabh was very keen on the project but when it started facing financial issues he announced his exit. However, once Bhushan took the project in his hands the film was back on track. Now, the film’s shooting is all set to start in August, right after monsoons as the film requires a lot of outdoor on-the-field filming. A meeting of Amitabh and Vijay Barse in Nagpur is also on the cards. Nagraj Manjule will facilitate the meeting of these two exceptional people.

A source revealed, “Amitabh Bachchan had expressed a wish to meet Vijay Barse. Since the biopic will be made with Barse’s approval and consent, a meeting between the reel and real is imperative.” Vijay Barse started the Slum Soccer campaign that brought the children from the slums on the field for a better life. Slum Soccer not only uses football to engage with children but also provides them with social messages like sanitation, life skills and gender equality.

The film will also star many child artistes and will feature the game of football pretty extensively. Amitabh, playing the role of teacher-turned-coach will be seen teaching the kids the subtle art of playing football. Interestingly, Vijay, is Amitabh’s most famous screen names as he acted in a lot of superhit films where he was named ‘Vijay’.
