The first romantic track of Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu’s upcoming film Soorma will be released today. The song has been sung by Diljit himself while the lyrics have been penned by ace lyricist Gulzar. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have composed the track. According to media reports the song will be played in the background while showcasing Diljeet and Taapsee’s chemistry whole they play hockey together.

Diljit, who is a Punjabi singer, recently spoke about his experience of working with Gulzar and Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy to a leading daily. He said, “I am thankful to Shaad Ali for giving me this opportunity. I recently did a show with Shankar Mahadevan and I used to hear a lot of his songs that he has composed in the past. Meeting Gulzar Sahab through this film was a great thing for me as I did not have any contacts to get through to him. To sing a song written by Gulzar and composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is a big thing for me.”

Soorma is a biopic made on the life of Indian hockey player Sandeep Singh, who made headlines for his miraculous recovery after having been shot in a freak accident and being confined to a wheelchair for two years of his life. Singh is regarded as one of the world’s most dangerous drag flickers, and is nicknamed ‘Flicker Singh’. Sandeep scored the most goals and won the Man of the Tournament award in the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. By scoring  16 goals, he became the leading goal scorer and helped India qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.

Soorma also stars Angad Bedi in a pivotal role, and is produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh and Deepak Singh. The film’s trailer has already garnered a lot of buzz. The film is slated for a July 13, 2018, release.
