Ranbir Kapoor’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt - Sanju - is ruling the roost and has generated such a tremendous buzz that the film’s trailer and songs have been trending for quite some time now. The film is due for release next week and it is already labeled a blockbuster. Ranbir is raking in a lot of appreciation and acclaim for his portrayal of Sanjay and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani feel that no other actor could have done justice to the role. However, Salman Khan has a different opinion. The Race 3 actor was curious to know why Sanjay was not playing himself in the last 7-8 years of his life and that he would have done the role better than Ranbir!
However, Ranbir revealed recently why that was never a solution in the picture.
While promoting the film, Ranbir in the media interaction said, “It has never happened that the person on whom the biopic is made plays himself on screen. This destroys the effect of the character. I knew I will be compared to Sanjay Dutt and hence I tried my best to do justice to the role.” He further added, “Whether people see me as 40-year-old Sanjay Dutt or a 20-year-old, they should feel that they are watching an artist playing Sanjay Dutt. It is obvious that I cannot become a second Sanjay Dutt.”
