Actress Kangana Ranaut has got many interesting films up her sleeve. She's currently wrapping up Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Mental Hai Kya. Post this, she will start prepping up for her character in director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's next, in which she plays a Kabbadi player. She also has her own directorial debut lined-up along with a few more interesting scripts. However, there's something that might become more awaited than any of her next films -- her next with director Anurag Basu.
A leading daily has learnt that Kangana has given her nod to play the lead in Basu's next which has been titled Imali. The actress though refused to shelve details about the project, she maintained that she would readily work with Basu whenever he would want her to. She said, "It’s too early to talk about Imali as we are starting the film around the end of the year. All I can say is that Anurag is my godfather and everything I am today is because of him… I can’t wait to go back to the beginning".

It should be noted that Basu had directed Kangana in her debut Bollywood film, Gangster, for which she went on to receive many awards. She was paired opposite Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja and had an interestingly bold character in the film. However, as the buzz has it, the director and actress had a fall out after Basu helmed Kites, which released in 2010, and featured Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori with Kangana. It was said that the actress was apparently miffed with the director for giving more screen space to Mori than her.
However, seems like everything is back on the track now. The report in the daily quoted a source saying, "The prep for Imali is expected to begin by August but the film should roll only towards the year-end. The search for the male lead is on".
While more details on the project are awaited, all we can say is 'Imali' seems quite an impressive title for a film.
