Janhvi Kapoor in Dhadak has a special connect with Sridevi in English Vinglish

Ever since actress Sridevi passed away, her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor have stayed in a cocoon, possibly staying low and recuperating collectively from the unrecoverable loss. However, months after the untimely demise of her superstar mommy, elder daughter Janhvi is slowly opening about the tough experience.

In a conversation with a leading news channel, Janhvi touched upon the fact that coping up with the loss of her mom was not 'an easy experience' but had it not been for her debut film Dhadak, it could have been 'tougher' than it has been. While talking she also revealed the one thing she shares in common with Sridevi. A beautiful anecdote dating back to the days of English Vinglish, Sridevi's comeback vehicle after a hiatus of nearly two decades, is what ties the mother and daughter by a common thread in this journey of acting.

"You know, I really wasn't that aware of things back then. Mom had so many years of experience behind her but when she was starting English Vinglish, she was as excited and as nervous as I was when I was starting Dhadak. It was almost like a newcomer was starting her first film. I really respected that," Janhvi told the news portal.

Recalling that she has only been on the sets of Sridevi's two films, English Vinglish and Mom, Janhvi added, "I remember I was on set one day and she was yelling at me for not having soup or something like that, and the next second, they said we need all actors on mark and she was completely like, she had forgotten I existed. To see that switch was enriching."

Earlier this month, Janhvi made her debut as the cover girl of a leading magazine. In an interview with Karan Johar, Janhvi had revealed how she has watched only five of her mommy's films. One of them being Sadma starring Sridevi and Kamal Haasan. Disturbed by Sridevi failing to remember Haasan at the end of the film, a disturbed Janhvi didn't talk to her mother for two days after watching the movie.

Following her mother’s footsteps, Janhvi has a penchant for acting. The gorgeous girl was filming her debut film Dhadak when she lost her mother. However, she put up a brave front and returned on sets to wrap up the remaining schedule. Her launch vehicle, Dhadak, is the official Hindi remake of Marathi superhit Sairat. She is cast opposite Ishaan Khatter in the film which is slated to arrive in cinemas this July 20.
