We now understand why Dia Mirza had said she couldn't wait for Sanju's promotion campaign to unveil! Ever since Ranbir Kapoor and the team of Sanjay Dutt's biopic has kickstarted promoting the upcoming life drama, not only have we explored the never-seen-before side of RK and Baba but also the conjectures revolving around the actors' life and the movie itself as well now seem clear, while some stand dismissed.
Amid all the questions circling this much-anticipated project, one lingered since its inception - why Ranbir? Albeit director Rajkumar Hirani only vouched for the shy boy since the beginning, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra had placed his initial bet on Ranveer Singh! Yes, not Ranbir but Ranveer was the first choice to play Dutt. In a recent interview with a daily, Chopra said, “It was Raju’s idea to cast Ranbir. When he told me about Ranbir, I wasn’t happy at all. I thought someone else, like Ranveer Singh, could play this role much better. I thought Ranveer had the flamboyance, the emotional depth as well as the ability to change himself completely to play Sanjay Dutt”.
Since this statement was made public, it has got us all scratching out heads thinking if Ranveer would have made for a better onscreen Sanjay Dutt than Ranbir? In a media interaction held in the city on Wednesday, Ranbir was asked about the revelation made by his producer. Taking the safer route, he only expressed his happiness over the role coming to him.
"I don't know about his regrets and anything of that kind. But I am really happy that it came into my life. And it came into my life when I was really in need of inspiration. You know. It's a luxury that every actor finds inspiration in every film they do. This came with that. So, I am very happy that it came into my life, " Ranbir said in a room full of journalists.
Well, well...it still leaves us wondering though. RK or RS, who is your pick?
