Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has been busy with the shoot of Fanne Khan, his production starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. However, post this Atul Manjrekar-directorial which releases August 3 this year, he has another project which is said to be rather close to his heart: a light-hearted drama between a father and son.

Apparently, he has been rather impressed by Anil Kapoor in Fanne Khan, as it is with Khan himself that he wishes to make the film. For the son’s role, he is keen on Ranveer Singh. Kapoor and Singh have already played father and son in the Zoya Akhtar Dil Dhadakne Do. It had portrayed the relationship between Anil and Ranveer beautifully.

Ranveer and Anil get along famously in real life as well. Back then Ranveer had shared, “When I was young, the mainstream leading man/star/solo hero was Anil Kapoor. He is genuinely my idol and I would watch all his movies and that too multiple times. It is really an honour to work with him and he is a legend in its truest sense.”

Adding that he would have done the film just for those 3 seconds of dancing onscreen with his idol, he said, “Anil Kapoor is absolutely a killer guy with killer energy. He is like a child. He appears as if he is doing his first film that is the amount of enthusiasm he has for his dialogues, looks etc. He doesn’t give you the senior vibe. He is like a brother. We hung out a lot and I created a really special bond and I have a great amount of affection for him.”

Anil is equally fond of Ranveer. The only hitch to their coming together onscreen right now is that they don’t have dates till 2020! Does Rakeysh love them enough to wait till then? Time will tell!
