After playing an intense historical character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh is now all set to play a cop in an out-and-out masala entertainer Simmba. Directed by Rohit Shetty the film also stars Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood. Ranveer is channeling his inner Singham in this film where he plays Shetty’s quintessential hero-cop character. After sharing a look from his film which reminded us of Ajay Devgn’s Singham character, Ranveer and Rohit can be seen in a quirky video having fun on the sets of Simmba.

The video that was shared is doing the rounds of social media and has gone viral. Instead of a police station, one can actually see a dhobi ghat where people are seen washing clothes. At the end of the video, Rohit and Ranveer appear holding a police crime tape with the words ‘Hot Set’ printed on them. Ranveer is playing the role of a righteous but notorious cop Sangram Bhalerao in the film.

Ranveer has been very excited about the film and has been seen sporting his mustached look from the film in real life too. We had reported that Simmba will also have a special appearance by Ajay Devgn too. He will apparently be seen in the climax scene of the film. The shooting of the film has already started in Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad and according to reports, the film will be bigger, better and even wackier than all the previous films from the Singham franchise of Rohit Shetty.

Seeing how the Singham films gave rise to now a popular cartoon series, it remains to be seen whether the Ranveer starrer Simmba also becomes that popular to be made into an animated spin-off series. The film is produced by Shetty and Karan Johar and is looking at a release date of December 28, 2018.
