Director Rajkumar Hirani has shared a clip from the upcoming Sanju, which has Ranbir Kapoor recreating Sanjay Dutt’s hilarious classroom scene from Munnabhai MBBS. Dressed in the same orange shirt Sanjay Dutt had sported in the original, in the same classroom, surrounded by the same students, Ranbir asks the Dean (yes, the same J.Asthana): “Woh bahar casualty mein koi marne ki haalat mein raha ... toh usko form bharna zaroori hai kya?”
You will be forgiven for thinking you are watching Munnabhai MBBS itself, so freakily has Ranbir nailed the look and voice of Dutt from the original. Besides his expressions which are identical, he even sports the same highlights in his hair that Sanjay had sported in the film.

We are accustomed by now to how perfectly Ranbir has nailed Sanjay Dutt in this biopic. Yet every time a new teaser or clip comes along, we are floored all over again. Ranbir has been inundated with praise for his performance which sees him as a virtual carbon copy of the man, Sanju himself. The shocking resemblance had even led his own father Rishi Kapoor to believe he was watching his son and not Dutt onscreen during the trailer.
Rishi had gushed, “The way Rajkumar Hirani has presented Ranbir is the biggest superb thing, the boy has really done well. I am so proud of him. I swear on (wife) Neetu and Ranbir, I did not think it was Ranbir, I thought it was Sanjay Dutt.” He had added, “You don’t know how emotionally triggered I am right now at the point where Vinod (Chopra) and Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) have shown me this trailer. The first appearance of Ranbir from the jail, I thought it was Sanjay Dutt.”
Raju Hirani shared the latest clip of Ranbir as Munna Bhai with the comment, “Hope you have as much fun watching this scene from Munna Bhai M.B.B.S as I had in recreating it after 15 years.” What else do we say to that, but a resounding ‘Yes’!
