Young Janhvi Kapoor has been getting generous amounts of support and love from her friends and family. The loss of her mother Sridevi is a harsh blow to deal with, and her presence is sorely missed as D-day approaches. In a recent interview, Janhvi said that if not for the film, her life would have been purposeless after her mother’s sudden death a few months ago. Expressing her state of mind after her adored mother’s death, Janhvi said that it wasn’t easy for her to get back to work but that she wouldn’t have been able to do Dhadak, without the support of her family and friends. She also revealed that working and acting in Dhadak saved her in many ways and helped her deal with the crisis she was facing.
In order to pay tribute to the late actress and honour her memory, Dharma Productions has decided to make the film extra special for Janhvi… Both producer Karan Johar and director Shashank Khaitan have chosen to dedicate the film to Sridevi herself. Apparently, they felt that Dhadak deserved to be dedicated to the late iconic actress, whose daughter makes her film debut with this star-crossed love story.

Hearing about this decision, Boney Kapoor expressed, “Her loss is palpable to the whole nation. I realise it’s not just her family that misses her. Her fans miss her too, every single moment.” At the trailer unveiling, Janhvi had got emotional as she shared, “I definitely miss her today. The biggest and most helpful tip she has given me is to work hard and to feel every emotion.”
She had also revealed that she had watched Sairat for the first time with her mother and had confessed to her that she wanted to make her debut with a similar film. As fate would have it, soon Janhvi was signed on by Karan Johar for the Hindi remake, Dhadak. It is entirely fitting that Sridevi, who was deeply involved in her daughter’s life, is part of her debut film after all.
