The trailer of the much-awaited sports drama Gold starring Akshay Kumar and television sensation Mouni Roy is out now. Earlier, the movie has created enough buzz with its constant updates and news. Its teaser and posters were enough to have us glued to the screens waiting for more. And now, the trailer does the same!
Akshay keeps up with his practice of making us feel proud of our country and its history yet again, with Gold. This time, however, he isn’t playing an army officer, naval officer, a spy or a vigilante. Gold is set on the backdrop of the struggle behind India’s first Gold medal in the 1948 Olympics, as an independent nation. With Akshay leading the film as a hockey coach, the film will encompass ‘twelve crucial years in India’s history’.

In the trailer, we see Akshay and his desperation to bring his country a Gold medal of its own against the Britishers. This emotion essentially arises from the hatred for the previous years of slavery and servitude. He, as a hockey coach, is determined to achieve his goals. Helping them come true are Vineet, Kunal and Amit. Standing by his side as well as keeping the reality in check for her man is Mouni, as his wife. The struggle is obvious. But Gold is the story of the underdogs rising after losing everything they've ever had.
Gold also features Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar and Sunny Kaushal in pivotal roles. The film has been majorly shot in the UK’s Yorkshire, Bradford, Doncaster, Rotherham and then Punjab, Amritsar and Patiala. The film is helmed by director Reema Kagti, who has previously directed Talaash and co-written Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Bombay Talkies, Dil Dhadakne Do, Gully Boy amongst others.
After the critical acclamation of her debut directorial, we’re expecting a lot more from this commercial entertainer. This film also marks the first collaboration between Akshay and Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar led Excel Entertainment. Both have individually given super hit films in the past and we’re sure this one will be no different.
In another exciting news, the film’s trailer will be attached to Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju in the theatres. Gold is all set to win our hearts, in theatres on August 15, 2018.
