She has well and truly proved her credentials as a performer over the many years and now Kareena Kapoor Khan is looking to push the envelope… Eighteen years in Hindi films and no doubt remains as to her skills. “I’m a practical person who knows exactly what she should be doing. I don’t think I need to prove myself as an actress. Thankfully, now people know how I am as a performer. Today, when I read a script, I see if there’s something special for me to do. I only want to play great characters,” she informs and she is open to them in other media as well.

Web series could just be her next port of call. “I’m open to any kind of medium,” she says, adding, “But again, it has to be something really different and special for me to say yes to it. Saif has done an incredible job in Sacred Games. If I get something out of the box and extraordinary, then why not? It’s all about a good, tight script and some shows on the digital space have outstanding writing.”

Well, clued-in as to the digital space she maintains that with different OTT platforms, the world has become a smaller space. She is happy about this revolution which has taken place, pointing out that Saif and she love watching a lot of international series. Along with the platforms, people’s tastes and interests are changing too. As Kareena points out, this had led to filmmakers trying different kinds of subjects today. “Some will succeed, some won’t but at least, we are making a collaborative effort.”

One medium we have yet to see Bebo on is the small screen. However, she has no reservations about the medium. “I’ve got several offers, but it has never worked out because of some or the other issue.” She points out that she is not averse to taking up something on the small screen, “but it can’t be a daily soap for sure.” Now that we would never even dream of!
